The Horses
Riding For Dreams is an adaptive riding program located in Southeast North Dakota. Our goal is to provide children and adults with the opportunity to ride horses and experience the freedom and joy that comes with it. We believe that every child should have the chance to pursue their dreams, and we are dedicated to making that a reality through our program.
Our program would not be possible without our amazing horses. Each one is carefully trained and cared for, and they play an integral role in helping children build confidence and experience the thrill of riding.
Jake
Jake is a 10 year old sorrel Quarter Horse who was donated to the program. Jake is a great lesson horse who is calm and loves the attention students and volunteers give him. He is the youngest of our program and is a blessing to our program.
Yeller
Our newest program horse Yeller was purchased for us by Aliceton 4-H club and he is already a favorite by many students. He is patient, kind, and attentive. He sometimes likes to lick students and volunteers and cuddle them during lessons. He is 21 years old and we hope to have him for many years to come!
Prince
Prince is a 25 years young dun gelding who still has tons of energy. He is our quirkiest horse and likes to let volunteers know he is ready to move by bumping their arm with his nose once in a while to tell them he wants to walk on. He loves his students and will do anything they ask. His favorite part of lessons is when the horse handlers unclip and he gets to ride independently with his students. He is a fast walker and in his past he was a ranch horse who put on many miles across the country. We are thankful to have him in our program.
Naughty
Naughty is on a donated lease from LaVon Stoppleworth. He is a Roan Buckskin Registered Quarter Horse who competes in Cowboy Mounted Shooting competitions with the Stoppleworths. We are so thankful they bring him and his full slightly older brother Junior to lessons so he can bond with our students.
Junior
Junior is a full brother to Naughty. He is a Roan Buckskin Registered Quarter Horse who is on donated lease from Lavon Stoppleworth. Junior also competes in Cowboy Mounted Shooting sports. He is so valued in our program and many students love him and bond with his gentle demeaner.
